Jeffersonland Chorus and Quartets

We are barbershop singers affiliated with the Barbershop Harmony Society. We are located in Charlottesville, Virginia and perform in venues in the Central Virginia area.

The barbershop style is 4-part a cappella harmony with lead, bass, baritone and tenor voice parts. The lead part is a tenor 2 part and has the melody line. The tenor is generally above, while the bass and bari are generally below. The close harmony this provides is part of what gives rise to the unique sound.

We perform as a chorus in such venues as University of Virginia sporting events, First Night Virginia, and our own concerts. We also have several quartets available that perform on stage with the chorus as well as other events that the quartets book individually.

Membership is open to male singers at least 16 years of age. Our chorus is a performing chorus. We teach vocal technique and performance fundamentals based on guidelines set by the Barbershop Harmony Society. If you are a non-singer, please seek out our various public performances. If you are male and a singer, come visit with us any Monday evening at 7:30pm at University Baptist Church at 1223 West Main St. in Charlottesville, across from the New Children's Hospital at the University of Virginia!
